Ways in Love
Heading back to my house on my usual route, a random thought popped in my head “it would be crazy if I seen _____.”
And in slow motion at the red light she turns on the block. I saw green. My feet went into action. 1 car behind. I felt “speak your piece.” I jumped out my Corolla and ran to her bbw. I touched the window with my palm as the red light changed startling her. She was shocked surprised when my face registered.
I had said, “Pull over, just talk to me.” She hesitated and the cars started honking. I called out to the horn tappers,
“ GO ROUND MAN IM TRYNA GET MY LADY BACK!” She looked uneasy staring at me through the slightly cracked window. Her eyes looked as if they had already pulled off on me. I opened her car door repeating my first thoughts with a slight plead. She had leaned backwards against the console as I stood in the door frame looking downwards towards her chest where her chain remained. She said “I gotta go emilllllly come on.”
I stepped back and closed her door, I had ran in my car. When she pulled over in front of a familiar spot, I had jumped in her car. I was excited thinking what are the odds…I know life was getting hectic but I knew we loved each other. I had sat uneasily in her passenger seat. It was lower and laid back, I felt it too close to a bed. I had propped myself on my elbows at first. Looking into each other, I was behind her and she looked back at me from the side. I noticed her ring I had brought her was gone. There was a smell in the air. Her eyes looked sad for me, her face could care less, her shoulders, her chest…her heart was beating like she had something to tell me. Her chain was moving, like her heart was spoken for. and I noticed a different sweater…the logo patch didn’t from my collection and it was only when I sat up in her passenger seat that it hit me.
I had pulled the seat up to hold me as I spoke to her.
I said, “you just was with him?” And long memory short I was right. I said “so you love him and you don’t want me no more? You don’t want to make it work?” She said, “yes and no I don’t.” With jelly legs I got out of her car, and went straight home.
